YOUR QUESTIONS – ANSWERED

Please read the answers to some frequently asked questions below.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583332928579-fca5d0f9-d590″ title=”What is yoga?”][vc_column_text]Yoga is a way of connecting the whole self: mind, body & spirit. The term “spirit” is derived from the Greek word, spirare, which means to “breathe”. So, it can be thought of as the union between mind, body & breath (Flynn, 2013). When we are focused and balanced, everything becomes easier (for children & adults!). To learn more about the simple science of how  yoga works to benefit your child (and you!), we can have a chat – I love teaching parents and caregivers just how amazing the gift of yoga is & I encourage you to do your research! Here are some wonderful resources I recommend.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583332928610-c7278bfe-da06″ title=”What are the benefits of yoga for my child?”][vc_column_text]Where do I begin?

[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333038218-a4ede1bc-41c4″ title=”Are the classes drop-off?”][vc_column_text]All classes are drop-off unless otherwise indicated. Parents/caregivers can drop their child off and pick them up at the end of class.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333058964-577e7270-51e0″ title=”Can a parent or sibling watch the class?”][vc_column_text]Unless the class indicates parent-child participation, parents are asked not to stay or watch the class. Unlike other activities your child might be involved in, yoga is not a type of performance art or entertainment. Rather, it is a personal activity. Parents and siblings are asked not to stay to watch the class, as it has proven to be truly distracting to the children participating when they are aware they are being watched.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333060022-9d6f419e-acc8″ title=”How long is each class?”][vc_column_text]Classes are 45 minutes long, which begins the moment you drop your child off to the time they roll up their mats and wave their goodbyes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333060648-a12c0cc0-16a0″ title=”Will my child be grouped with children his/her age?”][vc_column_text]The groups are carefully constructed so that each child is in his or her age group. Each class is developmentally and chronologically appropriate and aims to meet the needs of the group as a whole.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333061280-dcd030f8-683c” title=”What if my child has a special need?”][vc_column_text]You are in good hands! I have extensive experience and training in working with children and adolescents who experience all kinds of special needs and different abilities. Each class is structured in a way that is inclusive of all children. Indicate on the enrollment form what special need your child experiences. Please inquire about scheduling a phone call prior to starting sessions to answer any questions or concerns you may have.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333198139-682535f3-cd0f” title=”What is the class structure?”][vc_column_text]The sessions are really fun, engaging and structured. Each direction is understandable, adaptable and encouraging. The approach taken in each session consists of 5 elements: Connect, Breathe, Move, Focus & Relax. Through these elements, and within a framework of respect for all, compassionate communication, and joyful exploration, students are taught fundamental life skills that are immediately available for daily use. To learn more about this approach to yoga for children, click here.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333198822-b6fc5405-932b” title=”What is covered in each class?”][vc_column_text]Each class starts and ends in a similar way, providing consistency and connectedness to the group and the practice. Moving through the five elements described above, children are encouraged to engage in movement activities, guided imagery and meditations, and yoga poses. Special themes, music and some forms of art are appropriately incorporated into the sessions, and everything is explained in a developmentally appropriate way. Each session builds on the one that came before it, helping each child develop a greater understanding and skills as they move forward.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333199417-8c4c2fed-27f5″ title=”Will my child be able to practice the skills learned at home?”][vc_column_text]Absolutely! Each session is packed with tools and skills that your child (and you!) can practice at home, in a park, in school, on a plane and anywhere else you can imagine! No mat required.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333263865-d67d5041-e2a3″ title=”How can I best prepare my child for class?”][vc_column_text]Give them a light snack before coming, have them dress in comfortable clothes & drop them off with a water bottle.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333264531-5219599d-e21b” title=”Does my child need to have their own mat?”][vc_column_text]Yes. each child must bring their own mat to each class. Standard size yoga mats are fine, and for younger children, smaller mats are available online and in some stores. If you prefer to have a mat purchased for you for a fee ($40), please let Victoria know at least three weeks before start of class.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333298419-d6915f41-f4e6″ title=”How do I enroll?”][vc_column_text]It’s really easy to enroll by just filling out the enrollment form and answering a few questions about your child and interest. Once the form is submitted, I will review it and respond to you about a group for your child.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333299694-a9bae11e-1d39″ title=”What are the rates?”][vc_column_text]Please inquire for rates and indicate what location you are interested in.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333356921-90c6505c-3142″ title=”When is payment due?”][vc_column_text]Payment is due in full on the first day of the first session prior to your child beginning the class.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333376054-b60a7cf4-7722″ title=”Can I receive a refund if my child withdraws from sessions?”][vc_column_text]Children love yoga and I do hope they continue on with their sessions. If it so happens, though, cancellations of a series of sessions (8, 10 or 12 week) are to be made prior to the third attended session in order to receive a prorated refund. There is no refund for classes already attended.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333376857-37311990-a446″ title=”Can my child make up a class?”][vc_column_text]No. Unfortunately, the space is reserved ahead of time. If your child does miss class, not to worry. It will not impact his/her ability to follow along when they return.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1583333415052-fb6f5387-7952″ title=”Are classes ever cancelled?”][vc_column_text]Things do happen. Advanced notice will always be given and another day to make-up the canceled class will be scheduled.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][us_separator][vc_column_text]References
