FAQS

[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion][vc_tta_section title=”What is your approach/modalities?”][vc_column_text]In my 15 years of practice, I have discovered there is no one modality that works perfectly for each individual. I intertwine all of my professional modalities, along with a heart-centered, human-to-human connection to develop an individualized approach for every client’s unique needs.

My collaborative style emphasizes trust, kindness, and humor. I use direct communication and feel privileged to share in your journey to wellness. My integrative approach blends traditional psycho-therapeutic modalities with cognitive, physical, and sensory-oriented techniques and interventions to create a dynamic and highly personalized plan. I draw from cutting edge brain research, neuro-biology, strengths-based approach, attachment theory, systems approach, trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, and psycho-education to support you in resolving current stresses, grow through trauma, release longstanding emotional and behavioral patterns, and develop effective strategies to handle challenges as they arise outside of therapy. My work is enriched by my training in mindfulness and yoga, as well as aromatherapy to reduce stress, increase awareness and support emotional regulation. Ongoing exploration and awareness in areas of culture and diversity are key components in my work.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How long does it take?”][vc_column_text]Every situation is different. The duration will depend on what it is you want to achieve. In our first steps, we will discuss our treatment goals which will include a clear outline of our path together. It is my goal to empower clients to discover their inner resources so that they can sustain gains outside of therapy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What if I grew up with plenty of opportunity and abundance, but still feel that something is holding me back from living my best life, is therapy still right for me?”][vc_column_text]Challenges can be equally rooted in the seen and unseen world; while it may be easier to identify trauma in those suffering from seen barriers like homelessness and poverty, those who have grown up with seemingly abundant resources can experience suffering all the same. Their adversities are less obvious to the untrained eye, but these unseen hardships are a specialty of mine.

Usually, these traumas are rooted in family relational dynamics. I firmly believe that we all should have equal opportunity for healing, regardless of our abundance in life.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What is Therapy vs. Coaching?”][vc_column_text]I am licensed to practice therapy in New York State and Massachusetts. My coaching clients are located all over the world.

The primary differentiator in my therapeutic process and coaching services are deep-seated trauma work vs. working through some roadblocks To create a professional and personal life that is fulfilling and successful.

My modalities are inevitably intertwined, therefore my methodology will have overlap between coaching clients and therapy clients. The primary differentiator is trauma – if extensive trauma work is required to remove the barriers in the way of helping a coaching client to attain their goals and aspirations, I will have to refer them to a licensed counselor in their state.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What is the difference between a Generalist and a Specialist?”][vc_column_text]A generalist is a counselor that operates with a broad array of skills and methods. They provide a supportive role that can help to assist and empower clients in a broad array of situations.

A specialist has more specific expertise, and works with individuals or groups on areas of their unique challenges, and desired change or growth.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Our Consultation” tab_id=”1573242113950-27d631b2-ad75c90c-6da3f07f-bf66e6de-3432″][vc_column_text]When we first meet, we will need to decide if you feel comfortable working with me, and whether I feel I can be helpful to you. Sometimes, one meeting is not enough, and it can take a few sessions to know for sure.  If you decide that we are not a good fit, I won’t take it personally. It is an essential part of therapy to have a therapist with whom you feel you connect. If that person is not me then I can help you find another therapist. Also, if I think that someone else can be more helpful to you, I will refer you to someone who would better fit your needs and goals. It’s important to find the therapeutic relationship that is best for you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Frequency of Treatment” tab_id=”1573242135873-14ce9ce4-50f4c90c-6da3f07f-bf66e6de-3432″][vc_column_text]Once we decide to work together, your appointment time is reserved for you on a weekly basis. Sometimes, a biweekly meeting is suggested, depending on your needs and our goals together. This is decided by us both during our consultation. For therapy to be effective, we need to meet regularly at our scheduled time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Ending Therapy” tab_id=”1573242156176-8ecda5d6-14bec90c-6da3f07f-bf66e6de-3432″][vc_column_text]While services are voluntary and you may stop at any time, ideally we will agree upon an end to our therapeutic relationship after talking about it together. When you are ready to leave, I want to help you leave treatment well. Occasionally, the desire to end treatment abruptly can be related to misunderstandings, misinterpretations, or the difficulty in the material being discussed. In order to initiate a productive departure process, it is most helpful to give notice of several weeks, and for longer-term clients, several months. No matter the circumstance, I will work to facilitate a process that is beneficial to you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Treatment Orientation” tab_id=”1602129322423-6180bc1f-999fc90c-6da3f07f-bf66e6de-3432″][vc_column_text]My collaborative style emphasizes trust, kindness and humor.
