Parents of children with Autism often experience great struggles and challenges in their parenthood journey. This stress can significantly impact child outcomes.
Post-traumatic growth (PTG) represents positive psychological change occurring in some who suffered trauma.This training will offer an understanding of the unique multilayered compounding parenthood experience of parents of children with ASD, the ways in which these parents uniquely cope, the markers of PTG in these parents, as well as an understanding of how to help facilitate PTG in this population. Dr. Grinman will present some aspects of her most recent research in this topic and share her insights from a qualitative study that examined the PTG experience of parents of young adult children with ASD.
Participants will gain an understanding of and receive an introductory overview of a set of tools and skills that can support them in listening for and nurturing posttraumatic growth.
4 CEs are available for NYS LMHCs, LMSWs, LCSWs, LMFTs, LCATs, NYS Licensed Psychologists and NYS Licensed Psychoanalysts upon completion of training.

In accordance with the NY State Department of Education guidelines, in order to receive continuing education contact hours, a participant needs to be present for the duration of the workshop/training. Therefore, participants who arrive late or leave the event early will not be granted a certificate of completion.
